ElDonna tried nutrition groups and cooking classes, but eventually the 37-year-old got tired of seeing her weight creep up and up. That’s when she found Lee & Maria’s.

“Since I have been using this service I have felt much better about what I am putting in my body,” says ElDonna. “When I started getting fresh produce delivered to my home I was working on my weight loss goal of 30lbs. I knew exercise alone was not going to be enough and no fad diet was going to keep off the weight.”

ElDonna is also on disability, so she says the home delivery is a dream-come-true and the support she receives through newsletters with each delivery has helped her adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Lee & Maria’s is a 40-acre Kingsville farm and on-farm market that delivers to homes and businesses across Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent. Bins of locally grown produce cost from $18 to $48, are fully customizable and require no ongoing commitment. There is also a selection of organic grocery items, bread, eggs, milk and more.

“Switching to a healthy lifestyle is hard work … having a support team that provides me with the food that my body needs is tremendous,” ElDonna says, adding the changes she’s made at home have started influencing what she orders at restaurants and which restaurants she eats at.

The process begins a week before delivery when the menus for the following week are released. ElDonna can make any substitutions to her bin she would like, as well as add extra items from the shop. After the order is locked in, her credit card is charged and then the order is dropped at her doorstep a week later. If she is away or needs to skip a delivery week, she can do so right from her account.
