Time Saver For Busy Mom

Patricia’s house is a busy one. When she’s not working 11-hour shifts five days a week, she’s figuring out ways to help feed the five other people in her household, including three teenagers. For her, the delivery service from Lee & Maria’s is all about saving time she was spending going to the grocery store.

“I work steady afternoons and go in extra to cover day shifts and weekends, so my schedule can be all over the place,” says the Amherstburg native. “Needless to say my home time is very limited and vital to me.”

This is where Lee & Maria’s came in handy for Patricia. The service allowed her to set her order in advance, and then come home on delivery day to find a bin of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as organic and gluten-free items waiting for her.

Now I only have to do grocery shopping once a month to pick up some canned staples and a few odd and ends.

“I would do the weekly shopping by dragging myself to the store after working a double shift on Friday/Saturday,” Patricia says. “Now I only have to do grocery shopping once a month to pick up some canned staples and a few odd and ends. It saves me quite a lot of time instead of wasting it in line at grocery stores every Saturday afternoon!”

Not only has she found extra time with her family, but she has lost 50lbs in the process.

“Since I discovered the service my long term health issues have almost entirely disappeared,” she says. “I feel it is a direct result of having fresh local fruits and vegetables delivered and on-hand at all times.”

Lee & Maria’s is a 40-acre Kingsville farm and on-farm market that delivers to homes and businesses across Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent. The focus is on locally grown fresh produce, organic grocery items, and supporting individuals with dietary restrictions. One of the benefits Patricia found was the introduction to some vegetables she had never thought of trying.

I excitedly opened my first delivery and was immediately enchanted with how fantastic the produce looked and tasted.

“I started out as a big carnivore with the occasional foray into veggie and fruit land, so my first order was a small seniors’ bin. I excitedly opened my first delivery and was immediately enchanted with how fantastic the produce looked and tasted when compared with the `truck ripened’ produce available in most of the chain stores.”

Eventually, Patricia says, she ended up increasing her bin size and now actively searches out recipes on the internet. She is also using a dehydrator so she can enjoy as much of the fresh produce as possible. “More veggies … more recipes! More recipes … more desire for veggies!”
